Efforts are on, they say, at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) to boost entrepreneurship. And Charulata Sharma seems to have got that boost, Sharma, an agricultural engineer and student of PGP- Agri Business Management (PGP- ABM) course at IIM-A forewent lucrative job offers to start her own venture.

Sharma is busy finalising the nitty-gritty to start her own consulting firm in Delhi. Ask her why she chose to stay away from campus placements and she is quick to reply, "Because this (consulting) is what I enjoy doing and now I wish to try starting my own firm," she says.

She maintains that part of her courage is thanks to IIMA's system of placement holidays. "So, if I am not happy with the way my business is going, I still have the opportunity of coming back and appearing for the placements," said she.

She says her plans to start a venture were always at fore but she gave them serious thought only in the second year. "Moreover, the venture requires only basic infrastructure and no major investments so there isn't much risk attached to it," she added.
