After scrutiny, 13,260 applications out of the 32,770 received for inclusion were rejected for reasons like lack of proper address proof, among others.

Four hundred names were deleted as the persons had died. The deletion was carried out after getting the death certificate from the village administrative officer concerned, she said.

Out of 517 applications submitted under Form 7 relating to objection on inclusion of any names, 117 were deleted due to duplication, she said.

The process was carried out as per the Election Commission order. The inclusion and deletion were carried out with proper evidence and no suo motu deletion was carried, she said.

A delegation of AIADMK MPs on February 15 had told the Election Commission that names of over 42,000 voters were deleted from the electoral rolls in Pennagaram where the bypoll has been put on hold by the poll panel.

They had demanded that a proper inquiry be conducted regarding the deletion of such a large number of voters.
