Parents duped of Rs36 lakh for medical admission

In a case registered with the Satellite police, a group of parents was collectively duped by a couple who promised their children admission to a medical college. The couple collected Rs36.4 lakh from the parents, and escaped.

According to  Satellite police, Supriya Nilandari and Nilandari alias Neel Majmudar had advertised in a Gujarati daily,  promising admission to  medical college in Bengaluru. Later, one Krushnakant Agrawal and three other parents contacted the couple.

According to KC Patel, investigating officer in the case, the couple had asked the parents to pay Rs19 lakh for admission and Rs50,000 as their commission. When the parents agreed to the payment, the couple asked them to meet them in Bengaluru.

"The couple then took them to a college campus and showed them around. They then asked for the money, gave the admission letters, and promised to meet in the evening. They never turned up,” said Patel.

The parents returned and registered a case with the Satellite police.
