Apprehending Fidayeen attacks in near future in Jammu and Kashmir, the Army today said Pakistan will try to sabotage peace and normalcy in the state.
           
"Pakistan will not be happy with improving peace situation in Jammu and Kashmir. It will try to sabotage the normalcy in the state," General Officer Commanding in Chief (GOC-In-C), Northern Command, Lt Gen B S Jaswal told reporters soon after attending the ceremony for presentation of gallantry and distinguished service awards at Dhruva auditorium here today.
           
They will try to scuttle the peace process which is going on in Jammu and Kashmir, he said adding this year is very crucial for return of peace and normalcy in J&K.
           
"There are also reports of Fidayeen attacks in near future because Pakistan will try and sabotage normalcy," he said adding "that is the reason I suspect some additional attacks like the one in Lal Chowk in Srinagar".
           
Expressing confidence in its forces in preventing terrorism, he said "Army is fully prepared to take care of all such attacks or challenges in future". During the ceremony, Gen Jaswal presented five Sena Medals (Gallantry), two Sena Medals (Distinguished Services), Five Vashisht Seva Medals and 21 GOC-IN-C appreciation cards to awardees.
           
To a question about intrusion and grabbing of land by China in Ladakh sector, he said "there is no change in the demarcated lines but there is some area over-lapping".
           
Parrying a direct reply regarding the efficacy of border fencing and electronic due to continued and increased infiltration bids along Indo-Pak border, he said "infrastructure along the border is intact and Pakistan is trying to push infiltrators to this side but Army is ready to foil every such attempt".
           
On the eve of 62nd Army Day today, he paid tributes to those soldiers who made the supreme sacrifices to preserve the unity and integrity of the nation.
