Pak foreign minister briefs Chinese leaders on Indo-Pak ties

Ahead of the Indo-Pak foreign secretary-level talks, Pakistani foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi today briefed the Chinese leadership on Islamabad's efforts to develop friendly relations with India.

Qureshi, who met separately with Chinese premier Wen Jiabao and foreign minister Yang Jeichi, discussed with them bilateral ties and major international and regional issues.

"Wen and Qureshi exchanged views on the bilateral relationship and major international and regional issues," Xinhua news agency quoted a press release issued by the Chinese foreign ministry.

Earlier, Qureshi had briefed his Chinese counterpart, Yang Jeichi on Pakistan's efforts to improve relations with India.

"Qureshi briefed the Chinese side in detail on Pakistan's perspective on the evolving regional situation including Pakistan's efforts to develop friendly relations with India," a press release issued by the Pakistani foriegn office in Islamabad said.

Foreign secretaries of India and Pakistan will meet in New Delhi on February 25 after a hietus of 14 months.

Earlier, speaking at the China Institute of International Studies, a think-tank, here, Qureshi said Pakistan wants all bilateral issues, including Kashmir, to be discussed on February 25 talks and feels much progress would not be made if India restricts the dialogue to a "narrow agenda" of terrorism.
