Over 37,700 mobiles stolen in Delhi over the years

Keep a watch on your mobile phone if you are travelling through Prashant Vihar and Daryaganj in the national capital, if one goes by official statistics on cellphone theft cases.

Official statistics show that these are the two police stations that have registered the maximum number of cases of stolen mobile phones in the past over three years in the capital.

Police stations in Bara Hindu Rao (North) and Janakpuri (West) follow Prashant Vihar (Outer) and Daryaganj (Central) in the list of 37,787 cases of mobile phone recorded in the national capital over the years.

According to the statistics provided by Zonal Integrated Police Network (ZIPNET), there were 1,878 cases in Prashant Vihar while the figure for Daryaganj was 1,505, Bara Hindu Rao 1,177 and Janakpuri 1,149.

A total of 422 cases of mobile thefts were reported from Airport police station with 321 cases being reported from the international airport and 40 from domestic terminal. The rest was reported from Mahipalpur.

Similarly, 1179 cases were reported in four Delhi Metro Police stations with Kashmere Gate topping the list with 653 cases followed by Shastri Park (407), Rithala (275) and Rajouri Garden (144).The New Delhi Railway Station has reported 315 cases while the Nizamuddin Railway station police has reported 52 cases.
  
North District tops the list of such cases with 7,191 followed by Central (5,120), East (4,135), North-East (3,827), and West (3,671). The New Delhi district has recorded a total of 2,065 cases over the years with Connaught Place police station recording 685 such incidents followed by Parliament Street station (458) and Tilak Marg (292).
