Slamming the employment policy of the Jammu Kashmir government as "useless", the entire opposition today created noisy scenes in the state Assembly and staged a walkout.

The opposition members were agitated over the new employment policy announced by the government in December last year saying the promise of providing one lakh jobs in five years was too meagre to tackle the problem of unemployment in the state.

Entire opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), BJP, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP), Jammu State Morcha (JSM) and Independent members stood up from their seats during Question Hour and raised anti-government slogans when labour minister Abdul Gani Malik was replying to a question on the issue of provision for capital subsidy in favour of unemployed youth under the new employment policy.

They said the policy would be a "big failure" in addressing the unemployment problem in the state and staged a walkout.

The minister said Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute has been asked to offer entrepreneurship programmes which apart from sensitisation, training and consultancy inputs will provide an incentive to help people kickstart their ventures.

The House again witnessed noisy scenes when social welfare minister Sakina Itoo said a fresh survey for the BPL families has been delayed and the Union Ministry of Rural Development has constituted an expert committee for specifying a suitable methodology for identification of rural households.

Protesting against the delay in fresh survey, opposition members, who returned after sometime, stood up and raised slogans before staging another walkout.
