The opposition in Uttar Pradesh today accused the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) regime of indulging in corruption and asked governor BL Joshi to immediately dismiss the Mayawati-led government, on the opening day of the Budget session of the state legislative assembly.

"There is complete goondaraj (goons rule) in the state and the governor should immediately dismiss the government," leader of the opposition Shivpal Yadav told reporters in Lucknow.

Referring to Joshi's address to both houses of the state assembly, Singh alleged that while the chief minister was looting the state the governor was praising the government.

"People will not tolerate this government for a single minute which is deep into corruption and action should be taken against corrupt ministers," he said.

Yadav said independent MLA from Kunda, Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, should be immediately released.

The Kunda legislator was booked for allegedly threatening a candidate during the recent panchayat elections in the state and also in connection with a 2009 case pertaining to civil aviation act.

"Samajwadi Party would continue to protest against this government till the time it is dismissed," Yadav said.

The Congress too condemned the government.

"We respect the governor, but he read the address prepared by the government which has lost the faith of the people," leader of Congress legislative party (CLP) Pramod Tiwari said.

"In this government neither development works were undertaken nor employment was given, only harassment of women has increased," he alleged and added that 13 MLAs of the BSP were behind the bar.

On Mayawati's comment of Phoolan Devi emerging during Congress regime, CLP leader said, "This BSP government is giving birth to a number of Phoolan Devis."

Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Kokab Hameed also demanded dismissal of the government.
