Omar Abdullah discusses security situation with governor

Infiltration attempts by militants from Pakistan, elections to urban and rural local bodies, expediting hydro-power projects were part of the hour-long discussions between chief minister Omar Abdullah and governor NN Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.

The governor and the chief minister also discussed the recent incidents in the Valley and the action taken. 

They also discussed the overall security situation, particularly with regard to the continuing infiltration attempts in both Kashmir and Jammu zones, an official spokesman said.

Discussions relating to developmental issues, including elections to urban and rural local bodies and the need to further expedite the work relating to all projected hydro-power stations, were held, he said.

Omar briefed the governor about his recent tours, which are continuing to all parts of the state, to review work progress.

During the meeting, the chief minister referred to the significant issues arising from conferences of the various district development boards which are being currently held under his chairmanship to monitor the pace of development projects, implementation of welfare schemes and the measures
being taken to ensure their time-bound completion.
