Congress leaders and NSUI members on Saturday evening pelted stones on few AMTS buses and later set on fire some seats of a bus to protests the arrest of 41 NSUI and Congress members on Saturday afternoon. The bus was parked behind the Siddi Sayed ni Jali. No one was injured in the incident.

Sources said that on Saturday afternoon, the Karanj police arrested 41 Congress and NSUI members on charges of violation of commissioner of police’s notification on Friday.

The Congress and NSUI members on Friday had staged a dharna at various parts of city and also burnt effigies of chief minister Narendra Modi to protest the hooch tragedy which claimed the life of more than 100 people.

The NSUI and Congress leaders also created a scene at the BJP office at SG highway. Police sources said that based on Friday’s violence, the city police and crime branch detained 41 Congress and NSUI leaders including NSUI city president Vinay Singh Tomar on Saturday afternoon.
