Nothing extraordinary in Modi appearing before SIT: Congress

'It is the duty of every citizen to abide by the judicial process and if he has done it then I think he has done his duty as a citizen of this country,' AICC general secretary Janardan Dwivedi.

Congress today said there was "nothing extraordinary" in Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi appearing before the Supreme Court-appointed SIT in connection with the the 2002 Gujarat riots case as by doing this he had only done his duty.

"It is the duty of every citizen to abide by the judicial process and if he has done it then I think he has done his duty as a citizen of this country. There is nothing extraordinary about it," AICC general secretary Janardan Dwivedi told reporters here.

Earlier in the day, Modi appeared before the SIT and was questioned for the first time on his alleged role in the 2002
Gujarat riots case at the old state secretariat building in
Gandhinagar.
