Ending the prolonged custody row in Norway, the two Indian toddlers arrived in Kolkata from New Delhi on Tuesday evening with their uncle Arunabhash Bhattacharya and headed to their ancestral house at Kulti in Burdwan district.

Abhigyyan and Aishwarya earlier reached New Delhi during the day to a rousing reception at the Indira Gandhi international airport.

Uncle Arunabhash accompanied the two kids from New Delhi by an Air-India flight which landed at 7.40 pm.

Maternal grandfather Monotosh Chakraborty and grandma Sikha were present at the airport to receive the children.

Conveying thanks to the Indian government, particularly External affairs ministry, Arunabhash said, "It's a major relief.

"We are very happy. We are thankful to External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and Brinda Karat (CPI-M leader) who helped us a lot."

Asked by a TV channel as to how he would bring the children up, he said, "I would like to appeal to you to give us some space to lead a normal life. We have a lot of plans.

"Finally everything is over."

The mother of the kids Sagarika, who returned to India last month, was stated to be in Mumbai.

Their father Anurup Bhattacharya, working in Oslo as a geoscientist, is likely to return to India next month after obtaining permission of the Norwegian government.

Talking to reporters at NSCB international airport here, Arunabhash thanked the media for the support extended towards release of the two kids.

"Our thanks to the media and our countrymen for the support."

He said he was feeling "relaxed and relieved" to get the two kids back to India after a prolonged legal battle.

"I feel equally happy to return to Kolkata after a long time," he said.
