Non bailable warrant issued against BSP MLA in rape case

According to the prosecution, on June 5, 2003, police had freed 48 Nepali girls from a circus and charged BSP MLA Mohd Alim and his brother Yunus, owners of the circus, of illegal confinement.

A local court today issued non bailable warrants against a BSP MLA and his brother for failing to appear before it despite repeated issuance of warrants against them in connection with a rape case.

Additional chief judicial magistrate Vikas Goel directed  Bulandshahr SSP to produce BSP MLA Mohd Alim and his brother
Yunus before the court on June 21.

The court directed the police to ensure execution of thewarrants.

According to the prosecution, on June 5, 2003, police had freed 48 Nepali girls from a circus and charged Alim and Yunus, owners of the circus, of illegal confinement.

Some of the girls had also accused the duo of sexual assault and medical examination of two of the girls had confirmed rape.

The ruling BSP had handed over the case to the CID.

Alim was elected as an MLA from Bulandshahr constituency
in the recent UP Assembly elections, while his brother Yunus
had contested the last Lok Sabha polls from East Delhi as a
BSP candidate, but was defeated.
