K Radhakrishnan, ISRO chairman, who has been accused of witch-hunting and resorting to vendetta politics over the controversial Antrix-Devas deal involving his predecessor, G Madhavan Nair, has denied the charges.

Radhakrishnan on Monday said there was no vendetta politics involved and there was nothing personal in releasing the two reports of the High Powered Review Committee (HPRC) with BK Chaturvedi and Roddam Narasimha as members, and the High Level Team (HLT) chaired by Pratyush Sinha.

“There is nothing personal; we have put everything on the websites (ISRO and the Department of Space),” he said.

Two reports, in particular the one chaired by Sinha — the committee on which Radhakrishnan was one of the members — have stated that there have been several lapses of judgement on the part of Nair and his former colleagues A Bhaskarnarayana, former scientific secretary, KN Shankara, former director ISRO Satellite Centre and KR Sridharamurthi, former director Antrix Corporation. Further, based on the recommendation of the HLT, the department of space has banned Nair and the three others from holding any government jobs.

This apart, in a four-page statement released along with the two reports, Isro has stated that the ministry of corporate affairs and department of revenue have been requested to conduct necessary investigations for possible acts of omission and commission.

“The appropriate committees have been reconstituted by bringing in new people and dropping others including those whose names have surfaced in the reports of the HPRC and the HLT. If and when the Government decides to institute criminal or other charges against any person, that person will be provided appropriate opportunity and due process shall be followed,” the statement said.

Nair has criticised the HLT report of the committee chaired by former Chief Vigilance Commissioner, Pratyush Sinha, and stated it to be an act of cowardice as apart from being unilateral, only portions of it have been made public.
