In further trouble for Buta Singh's son Sarabjot, arrested in an alleged corruption case, the Delhi Police today said it has no records about the three firearms recovered from his residence in the capital.

"We are not able to trace in our records anything about the firearms recovered," Delhi's police chief YS Dadwal told reporters.

A case under the Arms Act was registered against Sarabjot, who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation last Friday for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs1 core from a Nashik-based contractor for settling an atrocities case against him in his favour.

The atrocities case was before the National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, whose chairman is Buta Singh.

The CBI had recovered three unlicensed firearms and a few live cartridges from Sarabjot's house on Saturday.

A senior officer of the Delhi Police said, "Even if someone gets a licence for a gun from one state, if he takes it to some other place, he has to get endorsement from the police in the place concerned.

"We don't know whether the recovered weapons had licences. Even if he had the licences, Sarabjot did not obtain an endorsement from the Delhi Police's licensing branch for keeping them at his Delhi residence."
