The Jammu and Kashmir government today said that no place of worship has been closed on the road leading to the court complex in Jammu.

Replying to a call attention notice by Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy in the Legislative Council, the minister for tourism and culture Nawang Rigzin Jora said that no place of worship (mosque) has been closed at the right side of the road leading to court complex in Janipur area of Jammu.

Jora said that one Mushtaq Ahmed of Ambedkar Nagar had started construction of a mosque on a piece of land located on the high court road in Janipur area.

However, Ahmad claims that the said piece of land belongs to him and he has given the same for the construction of a mosque.

The minister said as the ownership of land is disputed, it has been sealed and is being handled properly by the concerned authorities.

He said police has been deployed in the disputed land to maintain peace and in the area.
