In his speech at the conference, Dr Dossani stressed on what he termed as the four goals of higher education in management, namely, quality, access, equity and cost. He further said that, by 2011, India will be the single largest producer of engineering graduates in the world.

"This is because of the increase in the number of engineering institutes and the disposable income of households," Dossani said.

"It is vital for Indian institutes to focus more on group projects and journal writing in their curriculum so that they can grow and compete with their American counterparts. Currently, the challenges faced by the education system include the conflicting nature of the objectives of stakeholders and weak governments in this era of coalitions."
