Abdullah said the company do not want to return the projects as it is earning more 50%t of revenue from them.
Asserting that the Jammu and Kashmir government has approved taking power projects back from central PSU NHPC in the state, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the company do not want to return the projects as it is earning more 50 per cent of revenue from them.
"Obviously, NHPC is not happy over it (taking back of two power projects as per the cabinet sub-committee report and approved by state cabinet)," Omar told Legislative Assembly during question hour while replying to several supplementaries today.
Omar, who also holds the portfolio of Power Ministry, which was under attack in the house from members of various political parties, said, "They (NHPC) do not want to see return of the power projects (back to Jammu and Kashmir), because they earn more than 50 per cent from power project of J&K."
"Cabinet sub-committee recommendation have been approved by the State cabinet. separate strategies are being adopted for separate projects," he said.
Chief Minister further said government has not kept any provisions in budget, because we have not agreed to an amount on which thee projects would be bought back.
"What would be an amount of payment-- it is under discussion--when we arrive at any decision-- we will take house in confidence," he said.
The government is moving forward in this direction and will share the necessary measures to be taken regarding payments and other aspects with the legislature. "We will take the House in confidence," he said adding that the Nitti-Gritty about payments has not been finalised yet.
Underlining the importance of multifaceted approach in the all round development of power sector in the State, Omar said that government is focusing on generation, transmission, distribution and other aspects in power sector simultaneously.
Omar said that restructuring and unbundling of power sector is on cards for improving and upgrading generation and distribution of electricity in the State.
The Chief Minister said that in order to help upgrade HT/LT network government is considering a scheme to dovetail it with Legislators Constituency Development Fund (CDF) whereunder erection of poles and installation of transmission lines will be addressed instead of providing transformers.
Omar said that the State Government is also talking to Centre on the implementation of Rangarajan Commission recommendations and said that it would continue to do so to make a necessary dent in this regard.
He said government will also taken necessary action about the Class-IV and other employees of the PDD and PDC as per the agreement.
