National parties conspiring against Orissa: Naveen Patnaik

Orissa's ruling BJD today claimed that some national political parties were conspiring against the state as they were worried about the regional outfit's popularity.

"Orissa is being constantly neglected by the Centre while some national parties are conspiring against the state's development. It will not be tolerated any more," BJD president and chief minister Naveen Patnaik said at his party's 14th foundation day celebrations here.

While hundreds of crores of rupees are being provided to other states as assistance, distressed farmers of Orissa have not got any help though their crops were destroyed due to untimely rains, Patnaik said.

Stating that BJD was striving for making the dream of legendary Biju Patnaik a reality, he said despite being rich in minerals and natural resources, "Orissa was still backward and poor due to negligence by the Centre".

Addressing the function, senior leaders like Rajya Sabha member Pyari Mohan Mohapatra and state finance minister Prafulla Ghadai alleged that some national political parties are trying to obstruct Orissa's development as they are afraid of BJD's growing popularity.
