Almost 48 hours after Narendra Modi made a categorical claim that he demanded to speed up the judicial process in the Indian diamantaires' case by looking into the officials' eyes, Gujarat Congress has scoffed at his claims.

State Congress president Arjun Modhwadia said Modi cannot under any circumstances influence the judicial process of the Chinese court. “Is Modi indicating that he can influence Chinese courts too?” he asked, insinuating that Modi attempts to influence Indian courts.

Mocking his statement about eye contact repeatedly, the Congress chief argues that those arrested are not taken for political reasons but for criminal ones which cannot be influenced by a particular politician, which includes Modi.

“In such cases, parleys to expedite such processes have to happen at the central level, which was happening and this process cannot be under-rated. Modi was on a diplomatic visit. He was clearly briefed what he had to say and what not. The claim is totally ludicrous,” the Opposition leader claimed. Modhwadia added that if Modi can get people released from jail through eye contact, why doesn't he get the arrested police officials out of jail? Or the accused of the 2002 riots? 'Conveying message through eye contact is good for the Gujarati traditional dance bhavai,” he stated.

The Congress has repeatedly equated Modi to a 'bafoon ranglo' a character from the popular Gujarati traditional dance Bhavai, who says ' I did it' for everything that happens.
