Mumbai blasts: Man detained in Kathmandu

The Nepal police has detained a person in connection with the 13/7 Mumbai triple blasts who, security agencies believe, could have links with the perpetrators of the blasts that have so far left 24 dead.

Confirming that the detention of a person — a 43-year-old from Bihar — has indeed taken place, a home ministry source said the person was picked up by Nepal’s anti-terrorist cell based on Indian security agencies’ inputs.

However, they refused to divulge his name, saying it could harm the probe. “But his name is not Mohammed Zahid Khan as is being propped up by the media,” the source said.

He said the person was picked from a house in Kathmandu based on phone calls and text messages. There were a few phone calls made from Nepal to a particular location in Mumbai before the blasts and from Mumbai to Nepal after the blasts, the source said.
