Even two months after the Defence Ministry asked it to convey to Gen VK Singh that his tenure ends on May 31 this year, Army's Military Secretary (MS) branch is yet to issue the mandatory letter to the Army Chief of his retirement.

The MS branch issues the Retirement Warning Letter to officers about 10 months before their superannuation.

The Defence Ministry had asked the MS Branch to issue such a letter to Gen Singh but it did not do so, Army sources told PTI here.

The MS branch expressed its inability to do so saying that the matter was sub-judice.

The Defence Ministry had asked the MS branch to issue the letter in November last year.

The Army chief had at that time had filed the Statutory Complaint with the Defence Minister A K Antony to accept May 10, 1951 as his date of birth.
