Alleging that the law and order situation in Madhya Pradesh has considerably deteriorated, Congress on Saturday said that the BJP-led state government has lost control over the administration.

"On the one hand the state government is running 'Beti Bacahao Abhiyan' (Save daughter campaign) while on the other, on an average nine women were raped everyday in the state," the State Congress Media Department Chairman, Manak Agrawal told reporters.

With the recent incidents of rape at various places including Betma, Depalpur and Indore and rising incidents of loot, murder and abduction, it appears that there is no fear of government among the miscreants, he said.

He said that no state in the country had remained on top for five years in terms of incidents of crime. But Madhya Pradesh held this 'record' as per the report of the National Crime Records Bureau.

He also presented figures of crime from 2005 to 2010 in support of his claim.

All these things indicate that the government has lost control over administration and the party workers and the Congress is giving a call to the people to remove this government, he said.

Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Ajay Singh, said that in view of the rising crime rate in the state, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan should give arms licences to all the citizens so that they can protect themselves on their own.
