When an angry mother is
on a warpath, retreat seems to be the best policy, or so
it appeared to cops manning the Naranpura police station on Sunday.

An aggrieved mother literally held the police station to ransom for more than an hour on Sunday evening. This depressed mother not only created a commotion at the police station but also abused cops who tried to comfort her. However, her depression at her son's arrest went out of hand till annoyed cops took hold of the situation and heaved sighs of relief after locking her up!

According to reports, late on Sunday night a woman, identified as one Manjulaben, came rushing to the Naranpura police station asking the cops to release her son. The police had arrested her son, Sanjay Dhavan, in a murder case, on Sunday. However, the woman was not convinced with the allegations levelled by cops on her child.

The police officials had arrested Dhavan in connection with the murder of one Sonu Sharma, a bootlegger. Sharma had been murdered near his house at Rampir na tekra in Nava Vadaj on June 7. Soon after the arrest, Dhavan's mother came rushing in placating with the police that her son is not a murderer.
Manjulaben reached the police station and started pleading to let her son go.

However, when the police officials didn't heed to her entreaties, she lost her temper and started abusing the cops. Police said that she started abusing everyone at the police station and lots of people gathered after hearing the woman's abuses.

The drama lasted for nearly an hour. The annoyed cops finally locked her up in the police station. Cops said that Dhavan and another accused, one Raju Kathiyawadi are wanted in this connection. The accused had allegedly murdered Sharma for some old rivalry.

However, both the police inspectors MC Patel and HB Jamod posted at the police station refused to comment by saying they were on leave.
