A division bench of justices HN Devani and AL Dave has issued notices to the home department and director general of police (DGP) pertaining to a writ petition filed by a mother.

The petition alleges that her three minor children are being illegally detained by the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB).  The case will come up for further hearing on December 17.

SH Aiyar, the counsel for the petitioner Soru Bibi, contended that her three minor sons Haroon, 13, Shafiq, 10 and Tariq, 5 have been illegally detained by officials of the crime branch since April 25 this year. The youngest child is mentally challenged.

Aiyar further argued that Bibi, a resident of Chandola Lake in Shah Alam  had gone to get food for her children on April 25. She had taken one of her sons with her. When they returned they found several policemen near her hutment. Later neighbours told her that two her children were picked up by the police.
