In an apparent reference to remarks against the Sangh by Rahul Gandhi and Digvijay Singh, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat today expressed concern over attempts to link Hindutva with communalism and terrorism.

"Sometimes people say things about Hindutva due to selfishness... people say a lot of things and say that talking about Hindutva is communalism and try to link terrorism to it and such things are on," he said.

Bhagwat was speaking at the inauguration of Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy's book titled Hindutva and National Renaissance.

Digvijay Singh had said the "hatred" of RSS towards Muslims was like that of Hitler for Jews and blamed the 1992 rath yatra of LK Advani as the "root of terrorism" in India.

US diplomatic cables released by wikileaks website had also revealed that Rahul Gandhi had told the American Ambassador to India Timothy J Roemer that he considered Hindu terrorism was a bigger cause for concern than the threat posed by Pakistan-based terror groups like LeT.

Refusing to speak further on the controversy, Bhagwat said the RSS was preparing and inspiring youth for working towards the welfare of the country and said that Hindutva was the identity and the core value of the country and this truth has to be accepted for the welfare of the nation.
