Srinagar: A large number of militants are desperately "waiting to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir from the other side of the line of control (LoC) and international border (IB) before snow closes the infiltration routes," Raman Srivastava, the director-general of BSF said onTuesday.

One militant was killed and another arrested when they tried to enter the LoC in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara district in the wee hours of Tuesday. Lieutenant colonel JS Brar, defense spokesman at Srinagar, said troops of 12 Bihar regiment foiled the bid and killed one terrorist and took another captive, clearly establishing Pakistan's link to the unrest in the state. "We captured Tanveer Ahmad alias Anas, alive, while he was trying to infiltrate our area.Another foreign terrorist was killed in the encounter," said Lt Col Brar.
According to Lt Col Brar, Tanveer had undergone training at the Muzaffarabad camp from March to June this year and was camping in Lipa valley for the past 15 days.
