Fans and air-conditioners have been switched on but interestingly the woollens have not been packed up yet. Amdavadis have faced the heat with a brave face but they are still not sure whether the winter is gone for good.

"It is almost like we are experiencing both winter and summer, all in a day. During daytime it is terribly hot and we have to switch on the air-conditioner. But come night and we also have to use blankets," said Dhananjay Mehta, a resident of Maninagar.

He said his son had fallen ill due to this 'double' weather. "It is so unpredictable. Usually by this time of the year we pack up our woollens but this year we are yet to do this," said Mehta.
The city registered a maximum temperature of 35.8 degree Celsius, two degrees above normal while the minimum temperature was 19 degree Celsius.

The meteorological department has predicted a sunny weather for Tuesday too with maximum temperature at around 36 degree Celsius.

However, Kamaljit Ray, director IMD, Gujarat, said temperatures are likely to fall by 2 to 3 degrees after March 8.

Manan Bhatt, a senior engineer, said he did not find the weather very hot. "In fact I think it is quite humid here," said Bhatt.
