Mercury drops, chill makes a come back in Jammu & Kashmir

Famous sky resort of Gulmarg, 55 km from here in north Kashmir, was the coldest place in the valley with a minimum temperature of minus 10.7 degrees Celsius.

Winter chill made a come back in Jammu and Kashmir today as mercury further dipped in many areas of the state following fresh snowfall in upper reaches.
   
Famous sky resort of Gulmarg, 55 km from here in north Kashmir, was the coldest place in the valley with a minimum temperature of minus 10.7 degrees Celsius, Met office said.    

Pahalgam in south Kashmir, 100 km from here, recorded a low of minus 3.8 deg C against minus 1.6 deg C yesterday.
   
Night temperature also fell at other places with Srinagar recording a low of minus 1 deg C and Kupwara minus 1.2 deg C.
   
Frontier region of Ladakh reeled under severe cold wave with Leh recording a low of minus 16 deg C and Kargil minus 8 deg C.
   
Mercury also dipped in Jammu which recorded a low of 9 deg C against 9.9 deg C yesterday.
   
Katra recorded a low of 8.4 deg C followed by Batote 2.6 deg C. Banihal had a minimum of 1.4 deg C followed by Bhaderwah at 0.5 deg C.
