Maoists gunned down two village guards in Orissa'a Gajapati district and warned against any special operation by security forces against them.
Armed ultras struck at village Katama in the Adaba police station area around midnight last night and dragged the village guards, identified as Dinabandhu Mantri and Sadananda Singh, out of their houses to a nearby place before shooting them dead, Gajapati district SP Sanjeev Arora said.
Arora said security force had been rushed to the area to bolster patrolling and start a combing operation.
A four-page message left by the attakers warned against any form of special joint operation by the security forces against the Maoists, the police said.
