Maoists gun down man in Orissa

In less than fifteen days the Maoists have gunned down three villagers on charges of passing information to police in the district.

Maoists gunned down a a man suspecting him to be a police informer in Koraput district of Orissa, police said today.

The deceased has been identified as Sikalu Meneka, a resident of Tentulipadar village under Narayanpatna police limits.

A group of around 30 armed Maoists swooped down on the house of Meneka around last midnight and dragged him out of his home. After gunning him doan, the rebels also slit Meneka's throat to eliminate him, police said.

"Our team has been sent to the spot to recover the body. Investigation is on and details are awaited. The purpose behind Menekas killing is yet to be ascertained",  SDPO (Laxmipur) YJ Rao said.
