The state BJP ended all speculation about its state chief with the nomination of RC Faldu, MLA of Kalavad in Jamnagar, as its state party president on Monday. Faldu became the state BJP president when Gopinath Munde, national general secretary of the party and observer, formally announced his name at a function held at Ambedkar Hall in Gandhinagar. Faldu will take charge of his new office on Monday at 12.39 pm, which is considered as Vijay Muhurat.

The entire party organisation including presidents of cities and districts had gathered for the function. No election was held as not a single candidate from the BJP had staked a claim for the post.
Eight leaders including chief minister Narendra Modi had proposed Faldu's name as state BJP head on Saturday.

"Though we followed the election process as per party rules, nobody has filed the nomination form for the president of the state BJP. Therefore, I declare Faldu elected as the president unanimously," said Munde, who was on a two-day visit to the state to observe the election process.

The BJP organised a state delegates meeting on the occasion. Former chief minister Keshubhai Patel was also present. After being declared president, Faldu took the blessings of Modi and Patel.

In his speech, he promised to take the party organisation to the greater heights and sought full support of the workers. Faldu also held introduction sessions with ministers, state office-bearers and newly nominated heads of districts and cities who were present at the function.
