A fast-track court here has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing an eyewitness to a murder in which he was an accused.

Judge AK Kanhotiya yesterday sentenced Shobhram to life in prison and also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.

According to prosecution, Shobhram shot dead a 22-year-old youth named Sushil Kumar at Bhora Khurd village of the district on December 15 last year.

Sushil's father was killed five months prior to that and Shobhram was one of the four persons named in the FIR lodged by Sushil's mother after the murder.

Sushil, who was an eyewitness to his father's murder, was pressurised by Shobhram to withdraw the case and when he refused, Shobhram killed him, the prosecution said.
