The Ghatlodia police have come across a case of cheating with promise of job abroad.  The fraud came to fore after the victim, Chintan Panchal, a resident of Darshan Apartment, Ghatlodia, lodged a complaint at the police station on Sunday.

According to Ghatlodia police, the accused, Manish Patel, and his wife, Jignisha, who are residents of Uday Apartment, Ghatlodia, cheated Panchal of Rs3lakh by promising him a job in Singapore. PN Patel, PSI and investigating officer of Ghatlodia police station, said, "Panchal met Patel in Singapore on October 7, 2008 when the former had gone there on tourist visa." Patel offered to Panchal to get him a work visa and also promised him job at a multinational company in Singapore.

Later, Panchal informed his father Bharat Panchal in India about the incident. Patel also talked to Bharat who agreed to pay Rs25,000 for the purpose. Patel asked Bharat to deposit the money in his ICICI bank account.  After some time, Patel again demanded Rs50,000 from Bharat. Patel later asked for more money amounting to Rs 3lakh from Bharat Bhai.

On February 2, 2009, Patel took Panchal and four others to Jakarta and put them up at a hotel. In Jakarta, Panchal and four others were given a week's training and then brought to Singapore. But they were not given a job.
