A five-year-old girl living at a women protection home (Nari Sanrakshan Gruh) died from malaria at the new civil hospital on Sunday. Six other girls were also admitted to the hospital and their condition is said to be serious.
The surprising fact is that authorities of conservation home were in the dark about the entire incident, till the incident.
According to information, seven girls living at women conservation home was admitted at the new civil hospital on Saturday evening after they showed symptoms of vomiting and high fever. During tests all seven were found to suffering from malaria.However, during treatment Freni died in the early hours of Sunday morning .
Six other girls all aged between two and five years are said to be serious. They have beenidentified as Sanju 5, Sanjana 3, Namrata 2, Dharmistha 5, Sundari 4 and Anjali 5. Doctors confirmed all six of getting infected with +4 level malaria (poisonous malaria), while test results of dengue is still awaited. According to sources out of 97 people in the home, 70 are children. Two more children are said to be suffering from similar symptoms.
SMC officials checked the home premises and found mosquito breeding in six places. They immediately sprinkled liquid medicines and even distributed medicines to all the children. Interestingly, authorities of the home are still in dark as to how children got infected with malaria.
"We take every care to maintain hygiene in the room, while all girls are taken care of personally by our staff. Two days back, few children complained about headache and vomiting after which they were admitted to new civil hospital. We are investigating how it happened inside the home," said PG Trivedi, superintendent of home.
