The police may have, at last, identified the people who pumped toxic liquor into the city: the crime branch has declared that Yogendrasingh Chauhan alias Daddu Chhara and Vinod Chauhan alias Dagli were the main suppliers.

However, the men ostensibly responsible for 150 deaths are still on the loose. The crime branch determined that the two were the chief culprits based on the information provided by Harishankar Kahar, who was initially paraded as the hooch kingpin.

Daddu, a resident of Indore, now lives in Mahajanvaas or small Chharanagar, in Naroda. "Daddu had supplied the spurious liquor to Kantodiavaas and we created separate teams to nab him," said the deputy commissioner of police, crime branch, Abhay Chudasma.

Chudasma said that Daddu purchased the liquor from Dagli, a resident of Mahemdabad. “Dagli is among the main bootleggers of Mahemdabad and had delivered the liquor to Daddu, who had also distributed 700 litres to Kahar and 400 litres to Arvind Solanki in Kantodiavaas,” Chudasma said.

The police have surmised that Daddu received the deadly hooch from Dagli and delivered it to Kahar and Solanki on Sunday. The killer concoction was consumed by the victims in Odhav and Majur Gaam.

Chudasma said that the two teams were working non-stop to trace Daddu and Dagli. As for the presence of methyl alcohol in the toxic liquor, Chudasma said it appeared that the additive was made in Mahemdabad. The police have so far not revealed the identities of Daddu's other customers.
