Ravi Kapoor, main accused in the sensational murders of TV journalist Soumya Vishwanathan and IT executive Jigisha Ghosh, today tried to escape by throwing chilli powder on policemen during a hospital visit.

Police also fired three rounds to catch him but no one was injured.

Kapoor, who was arrested on March 24 this year, was taken to Safdarjung Hospital for a check-up when he attempted to escape by throwing chilli powder on policemen at around 11.30am.

He was taken to the hospital by ASI Umed Pal, head constable Jagdish and constable Satyapal of 3rd Battalion of Armed Police and the incident took place when they were going to collect his X-Ray report, deputy commissioner of Police (South) HGS Dhaliwal said.
