LPG cylinders will be cheaper by Rs 40 for BPL and Antyodaya families while diesel will cost 37 paise less per litre for all in Delhi with the city Government today joining some other states in cushioning the impact of the fuel and LPG price hike on common man.
Diesel will now cost Rs 40.75 a litre in Delhi for all consumers while LPG will be priced at Rs 355.35 per cylinder for families covered under BPL and Antyodaya schemes.
"The LPG cylinder will cost Rs 40 less for BPL and Antyodaya families while diesel will cost 37 paise less per litre. The subsidy on LPG will benefit nearly five lakh poor families," Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit told reporters after a Cabinet meeting.

The subsidy on LPG cylinders will benefit four lakh BPL families and around 80,000 Antyodaya families, she said.
"We felt the hike in LPG would impact the poor families most and that is why we decided to provide subsidy of Rs 40 to BPL and Antyodaya families," the chief minister said.
However, consumers in the national capital not in the BPL and Antyodaya scheme will have to shell out Rs 395.35 for an LPG cylinder after the latest hike.
Diesel cost Rs 41.72 after the last hike of Rs 3 a litre announced by the Centre, while domestic LPG price went up by Rs 50 a cylinder and kerosene by Rs two a litre.
A top official of Finance Department said the government arrived at the figure of 37 paise for cut in diesel prices by removing the 12.5 per cent VAT component on the recent hike of Rs 3.
