The Gujarat BJP is gearing up to welcome party stalwart LK Advani’s Rath Yatra, which will enter the state on the morning of November 6 at Vapi. Chief Minister Narendra Modi will accompany the yatra throughout its two-day Gujarat leg, during which more than half a dozen public meetings have also been planned.

The Yatra, which commenced from Sitab Diara in Bihar on October 11, will enter Gujarat on Sunday, a day after it reaches Daman. Though Modi was reportedly unhappy with his one-time mentor for inviting his bete noire, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, to flag off the yatra, he brushed aside such reports and came out in support of the yatra.

According to BJP, Modi will accompany the Yatra from Vapi as it proceeds to Udwada, Pardi before reaching Valsad, where Advani and Modi will address a public meeting. The party leadership has directed all its local units to mobilize large number of people to ensure huge crowds to welcome the yatra wherever it goes and at public meetings.

From Valsad, it will proceed towards Chikhli, Billimora and then Navsari, where another public meeting has been organised. The yatra will then enter Surat where another public meeting has been planned, and it will also halt there for the night.

The next day, the yatra will proceed towards Kamrej, Kosamba, Ankleshwar and Bharuch, where another public meeting has been organised. The yatra will then proceed towards Vadodara.
After another public meeting, the yatra will reach Karamsad, where Advani and Modi will pay tributes to Sardar Patel. The next stop will be at Anand for another public meeting. The yatra will then enter Ahmedabad on the evening of November 7 at CTM. It will pass through Hatkeshwar, Kankaria, Dani Limda, and culminate at Ghatlodia, where BJP has planned a massive public meeting.

Surprisingly, the yatra will not be going to Gandhinagar, the constituency of LK Advani. The Saurashtra region, which is stronghold of BJP, has also been excluded from the route of the yatra.

“The Gujarat leg of the yatra will culminate at Ahmedabad. The yatra will leave for Rajasthan on November 8. However, it being his birthday, Advaniji is expected to go to New Delhi, and rejoin the yatra in Rajasthan the next day,” Jayanti Barot, the convenor of Gujarat leg of the Rath Yatra, said.

The Rath Yatra is slated to culminate at New Delhi on November 20 after criss-crossing 23 states and hundreds of cities.
