After he has was elected from the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha Constituency, BJP veteran LK Advani is visiting the state capital to attend a meeting of the vigilance and monitoring committee at the collector's office on January 31. However, sources in the BJP have indicated that Advani's visit might not be merely for the meeting. He also has an engagement with the chief minister Narendra Modi.

It is significant that there has been a visible distance between the two stalwarts of the BJP after Modi's Sadbhavana Mission and shifting of the starting location of Advani's Jan Chetana Yatra. Sources in the party have indicated that the meeting between the Guru and Shishya can bring out nuances of future political strategies. They could also discuss the UP elections, or something else.

The meeting of the vigilance and monitoring committee headed by the Member of Parliament of the particular parliamentary constituency, is organised regularly in each quarter of the year. "The committee is supposed to take the account and the status check of the various schemes that are run by the union government like NREGA, NRHM etc," said sources in Gandhinagar district collector's office.

The officer confirmed that Advani's office has orally communicated his visit plans but there is no written message till now. "There are statements that Advani will be attending the committee meeting on January 31. If he will be attending the meeting, it will be for the first time after he has been elected from the constituency. Till now Jayshree Patel, MP from Mehsana, used to head the meeting," sources said. Source in BJP also confirmed Advani's visit. "He will visit the state on January 30-31. He will also meet members of the late BJP leader and MLA from Mansa Constituency, Mangubhai Patel's family members. His visit is important, as there will be by-poll for the Mansa constituency soon. He will also be meeting the CM," said the sources.
