The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has tightened its noose around corrupt babus. Bureaucrats in the government won’t be able to delay or bury any inquiry against him or her for any kind of misconduct.

In an order issued to all ministries and government departments on May 20, CVC directed the investigating officers to furnish probe reports on complaints within three months of the date of receipt of such references.

While directing all vigilance officers that they must submit their reports relating to complaints within three months, CVC said they will have to list the reasons for any delay thereafter.

DNA has accessed a copy of the order. The way CVC is going ahead reaffirms the PM’s declaration that things won’t be easy for corrupt officials.

The order says if the report is not submitted within three months, the chief vigilance officer attached with public sector undertakings, ministries and departments concerned should send an interim report to the commission without fail.
