A woman police constable in Orissa's Ganjam district has alleged that a senior officer
"misbehaved" with her in his residence. Rajeswari Nayak, a lady constable of Jarada police station, about 45km from here, met the superintendent of police, Berhampur, R K Sharma and requested him to register an FIR against the inspector-in-charge (IIC) of the police station Trinath Mishra, official sources said.

Sharma had asked the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), Chikiti, B P Dehuri to conduct an inquiry into the matter before registering a case. "I have asked the SDPO, Chikiti, to inquiry into the matter. Police would follow-up the matter according to the findings of the inquiry", Sharma said.

The lady constable had filed a written complaint against the IIC of the police station at Jarada. Rajeswari stating she was "misbehaved" by Mishra when she had been to his quarter on official work four days back.

Immediately after the incident she had informed the matter to the SDPO, Chikiti and lodged a complaint in the police station, she said.  Since no action was initiated she
informed it to the SP, the lady constable said.

Meanwhile, representatives of the All Orissa Police Constable and Havildar Association met the SP and urged him to provide justice to the lady constable.
