Katju's remarks on Nitish Kumar govt absolutely true: RJD

Opposition RJD on Saturday described as 'absolutely true' Press Council Chairman Markandeya Katju's remark against Nitish Kumar government for allegedly undermining the freedom of press in Bihar.

"It is an absolutely correct and true remark ... RJD has been raising from time to time the issue of freedom of media being under attack in Bihar by the Nitish Kumar government," state RJD president Ram Chandra Purve told reporters in Patna.

"RJD stands vindicated by the remark of Katju," he said.

Media wants to expose and highlight the misdeeds and failures of the Nitish Kumar government but is under attack in Bihar. "The government has been trying to topple fourth pillar of democracy," he said.

RJD, he said, welcomed the constitution of a three-member probe panel by Katju to find the veracity of the complaints of mediamen in Bihar.
