Mohammed Aslam alias Aslam Kashmiri, an accused in the Kalupur Railway Station blasts was produced by the crime branch at the court of metropolitan magistrate, SM Singhal on Monday. Earlier, on November 30, Aslam was sent to 14-days police remand by the metropolitan magistrate JK Pandya.

The crime branch officials arrested Aslam in another case of setting up sleeper cells of Lashkar-e-Toiba.  Singhal sent him to 10-days police remand in the case. Kashmiri is also accused of organising terror camps for people of Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The fresh charges levelled against Aslam include trying to send youths from Gujarat and Maharashtra to LeT camps.  Seeking police remand for Aslam, public prosecutor said that the police are yet to arrest many people who are charged in the Jihadi conspiracy case. Nineteen people have been declared as absconders in the case.

The public prosecutor also pleaded that prior to the Kalupur blasts, which occurred on February 19, 2006, Aslam had visited Ahmedabad and held a series of meetings with youths from the minority community.

The prosecutor also said that Aslam had sent many youths to Pakistan for training in LeT camps. Police are yet to get details about the youths who were sent to these training camps.

The public prosecutor claimed that Kashmiri had a strong terror operative in Gujarat and was wanted by the Gujarat police in the Kalupur blasts case and for setting up LeT sleeper cells in Gujarat.  In 2007, Aslam's younger brother, Khaled Kashmiri, was nabbed in connection with the same case.

Aslam was born and brought up at Rajauri near Jammu. After joining the extremists, he spent a considerable time in Gujarat and had studied at a madrassa in Bharuch.  Aslam's network was spread across India and he had become one of the most important operatives after a number of successful operations.
