Former president APJ Abdul Kalam will address the Chintan Shibir of the Naredra Modi government at Dhordo village on the edge of the Great Rann of Kutch on Saturday. The  four-day shibir that began on Friday after the completion of the three-day Rannotsav will be addressed by famous yoga guru Swami Sukhbonandhi on Sunday.

A total number of 180 people who arrived here on Friday from Gandhinagar to participate in the shibir included chief minister Modi, his 23 ministers, chief secretary D Rajagopalan, adviser to chief minister SK Shelat, 70 top secretaries, 26 district collectors, DDOs, seven municipal commissioners, 13 assistant collectors and IAS probationers.

Modi inaugurated the shibir in the evening and asked his fellow ministers and senior IAS officials to work as a 'Team Gujarat' to fulfil the expectations of people of the state. He said that 5.5 crore people of the state have faith in the family of 5.5 lakh employees of the state and "this brainstorming in Rann will give new force and direction for the development of the state."

Modi said that when Nepal had called a cabinet meeting on the base camp of the Everest and Maldives had called a cabinet meeting under sea and more than 150 courtiers were meeting in Copenhegan to discuss the issue of climate change and global warming, the Gujarat government had called this meeting in the Rann to give a new message to the world. "Our aim is to turn this problem into an opportunity. Dessert may be problem for others, but for us it is an opportunity. Dessert can be great source for reducing carbon emission. We cannot stop at just showing concern on climate change, we have to find a way."

He asked the babus to use the power of yoga for better ‘Golden Gujarat’. Chief secretary Rajagopalan outlined the objectives of the shibir while principal secretary  GAD  (ARTD) gave the introductory speech. Principal secretary (education) Hasmukh
Adhia  gave a lecture on yoga.
