Various celebrities, corporates and social organisations in the city will join hands for the 'Joy of India Giving' week, a philanthropic activity, scheduled from September 26-October 2.

Popular carnatic vocalist Sudha Raghunathan, filmmaker and director of LV Prasad Academy, Hariharan, artist and art director Thotta Tharani, GM of Courtyard by Marriott Karan Berry and Suresh Krishn, MD, Isha Homes, told reporters here that this was part of their duty to give "something to the society."

While Isha Homes will select five state-run schools to address their infrastructure needs, Marriott Hotel will conduct a charity dinner for 50 high networth individuals.

will perform in 10 Chennai Corporation-run schools, they said.

Tharani will auction his paintings the proceeds for which will go to Downs Syndrome Association of India, he said.

Besides, many other activities and fundraisers have been arranged in different parts of the city. The event will be held across 30 cities in the country, they said.
