Jawan shoots senior in UP after being denied leave

An army jawan today shot dead his senior after being denied a leave, police said. According to superintendent of police (Rural) Lal Bahadur, an army jawan Gupteshwar belonging to the Defence Service Core shot Lance Naik G Gajendran after he was denied leave at Panki area.

The 108th platoon of the Defence Service Core is deployed here and on August 13, there were some heated exchange between Gupteshwar and Gajendran. Gupteshwar, hailing from Bihar had asked for leave, three days back but was denied by Gajendran, the SP (Rural) said adding that when Gupteshwar's duty ended this morning, he shot dead the Lance Naik.

The incident came to light, only when Gupteshwar's reliever Indra Kumar joined the duty. Gupteshwar was arrested and his service SLR along with ammunition seized, SP Lal Bahadur said.
