Jawan dies in accidental firing in Jammu

An army jawan was killed in accidental firing in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

Ram Singh, a jawan of 6 Kumaom Regiment, died last night after his rifle accidentally went off while he was on duty at Gulpur forward defence location along the Line of Control (LoC) in the district, they said.

His colleagues took him to hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, police said, adding the jawan's body would be sent to his native place in Champwat belt in Uttarakhand.
