G Janardhana Reddy had planned to fly abroad on Monday morning to escape arrest as he had information about the CBI’s impending action, sources close to him say. Besides, he had also told BJP MLA and his close aide Sriramulu to resign to divert the attention of the media and others in the state.

Sources said Janardhana had information that the CBI was likely raid his house soon.

Janardhana had felt let down as the new chief minister did not give him a Cabinet berth. As putting pressure on the BJP high command went in vain, the brothers planned to blackmail the government through Sriramulu.

Subsequently, he met Jagan Mohan Reddy and planned to fly abroad on Sunday night. However, he had to stay back because Sriramulu’s resignation was not accepted. Later, he planned to fly to Indonesia on Monday, sources said.

However, the CBI team swooped on him in the early hours of Monday.
