Jammu & Kashmir government gives cheques to militancy-hit families

The Jammu and Kashmir government today distributed a total of Rs72 lakh among militancy-hit families in Poonch district.


Minister for revenue, relief and rehabilitation Raman Bhalla distributed the amount through cheques to 18 militancy-hit families at district headquarters in Poonch.


Bhalla also distributed 60 cheques amounting to Rs65 lakh to the 1947 refugees as land deficiency compensation.


The Centre had approved Rs49 crore as land deficiency compensation for those who were displaced during 1947, 1965 and 1971 wars, the minister said.


He said the Central government had also sanctioned Rs71 crore for drought-hit areas of the state.
